As many as 57,200 of the candidates 65,000 seeking admission into the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) will not be admitted the 2015/2016 academic session.
According to the Vice chancellor of the university, Professor Abdul Ganiyu Ambali, only 7,800 of those that sat for its Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will get in.
He told newsmen that 30, 384 of the candidates are in contention for admission after scoring 50% and above in the Post-UTME.
Ambali however noted that the university has written to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), through the National Universities Commission (NUC) to increase its admission quota because it has the capacity to admit more students.
Last year the university admitted over 12,000 students.
